S.C.O.T.T. recognizes the importance of mental health and offers a range of services to provide support and counseling to individuals and families, fostering emotional well-being.
Our organization is dedicated to guiding individuals and families through the challenging transition from pediatric to adult care in sickle cell disease treatment, ensuring continuity of care and support.
S.C.O.T.T. provides a Champion Support volunteer, who has undergone FBI/BCI clearance, to sit with patients with sickle cell disease. This support allows parents or caregivers the opportunity to manage daily activities while their loved one is hospitalized.
Sickle Cell Awareness Toledo and The Scott Center for Observation, Treatment, and Transition (S.C.O.T.T.) join hands to organize monthly support group meetings, a dynamic initiative aimed at fostering awareness and understanding of sickle cell disease within the Toledo community. These regular gatherings will serve as a platform for education, sharing experiences, and building a supportive network for individuals and families impacted by sickle cell.
S.C.O.T.T. fosters community connections by offering mentorship programs, creating a supportive network that empowers individuals to navigate life's challenges.
S.C.O.T.T., in collaboration with Promedica Toledo Children's and Toledo Nationwide Children's, provides newborn hemoglobin screening follow-up, hemoglobinopathy counseling, and genetic and prenatal counseling.
Prioritizing maternal and newborn health, S.C.O.T.T. conducts Mommy and Me Safe Sleep classes to educate and empower parents, reducing risks and promoting safe sleep practices.
S.C.O.T.T. actively engages in community outreach initiatives, working to bridge gaps and bring awareness to health disparities in the 11 counties of Northwest Ohio.
S.C.O.T.T. collaborates with school districts to increase awareness about health disparities, empowering students, and families with knowledge to make informed healthcare decisions.
S.C.O.T.T. provides an active services dedicated to advancing patient outcomes and understanding of sickle cell disease through multidisciplinary clinical and evidence-based research, comprehensive patient support, and collaborative partnerships.
S.C.O.T.T. provides services in the following counties: Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, and Wood.
